This install applies to "Gem'X" © 1991 Kaiko.
This install requires WHDLoad and RawDIC to be in the path.
These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package.

And here it is, the all new and shiny patch for Gem'X. Yesterday
I fixed problems with old patch and once done I decided to redo
the patch completely and this is the result of a few hours of
work. Done while listening to tracks by Katja von Kassel (highly
recommended!), Diorama and Diary of Dreams. Good music is essential
for coding. :)
First I coded a RawDIC imager and then patched the intro and the
game. Not too hard to do as the code is fine! I've also fixed bugs
in the TFMX replayer that were found by Don Adan (thanks!).
This new patch also supports high-score load/save.
Please note that you have to re-install the game!
Since the high-scores are saved to the game binary in the disk version
I had to adapt the version check to work with binaries with modified
high-scores. I have also added an option to reset the high-scores
to default values, if used the "GemX.high" will contain the high-scores
of the unmodified disk version.
Additionally I have also added a few trainer options (which, in my opinion,
spoil the game), if any of these options are used the high-score saving
will be disabled.
Harry reported that the random number generator used in the game used
the raster beam position so it didn't produce good results on fast machines.
I have recoded the random generator not to rely on the raster beam anymore
which gives much better results. I have also fixed the in-game timing
as the game ran too fast on fast machines. Thanks to Harry for reporting
the problem with the random number generation and a really excellent
bug report, if all reports would be like Harry's the life of a patch coder
would be much easier! :)
Enjoy this classic from HD.
